a collection of charcoal on paper
costanza Maria boncompagni ludovisi
Student currently working in Paris and allowing time to pursue my forever passion for art. While experimenting new techniques to seek for my signature style, I stumbled upon charcoal and its subtle yet powerful effect on paper.
The journey began by observing the overwhelming linear complexity of architecture as I traveled to different European and North American cities. I always wanted to capture their overlaying force, and have not found any other better way to do so if not through charcoal.
1929
Inspired by 1929 Wall Street’s crash, I experimented dragging the viewer into a two-dimensional story for my very the first time. Based on pure imagination, the iconic city’s skyscrapers are intentionally selected and drawn to complete the real-life scale perspective. Lastly, to further enhance the immersive experience, I allowed using a surrealistic metaphor of the “big foot” escaping the smaller disadvantaged crowd.

baroque
Fascinated by the astounding details of the baroque architecture in Ortigia, Sicily, I decided to compose an imaginative scenario through the numerous pictures I took during my family trip. The contrast between the black charcoal and soft paper allows the three distinct inspirations to create a functional continuous landscape.
